Of all the remedies in Feng Shui, activating the current ruling prosperity star with a real water fountain or water feature is the most powerful way of improving your financial situation.
But choosing a Feng Shui water fountain isn’t simply about finding a beautiful fountain and placing it in what you’ve been told is your wealth corner.
In Classical Feng Shui, water is an activator.
That means where you place your water fountain, which Flying Star you’re activating and even the type of water feature you choose all matter.
In this guide, I’m going to show you some of the water fountains I personally use and explain what I consider when using water to support prosperous energy in Period 9.

Why is a Feng Shui water fountain so powerful?
In Classical Feng Shui, a water fountain isn’t simply decorative.
Water is an activator.
When we introduce real, moving water into an energetic field, we are intentionally activating the energy occupying that area.
This is why I don’t recommend randomly placing a Feng Shui water fountain in a generic wealth corner.
Before introducing moving water, I want to know:
- Which Flying Star occupies that area?
- Is that energy prosperous or challenging?
- What are its elemental qualities?
- Do I actually want to strengthen it?
- What type of water feature is appropriate for the energy I’m supporting?
The fountain comes after the analysis.
Notice the shape of this one and that beautiful light? The water itself only has a very gentle trickle, and that was intentional. I actually purchased this fountain specifically for the current ruling prosperity star, so I was very particular about the type of water movement I wanted.
Feng Shui water fountains and wealth in Period 9
We are currently living in Period 9, which began in 2024 and continues until 2043.
When we’re working with wealth, there are two prosperous energies we’re particularly interested in supporting:
- the current ruling prosperity star
- the future ruling prosperity star
There’s an important distinction here.
When we say future ruling prosperity star, we don’t mean future money or wealth.
It’s a prosperous energy now. It’s referred to as the future ruling star because it’s next in line to become the ruling prosperity energy.
Both are prosperous energies, but they have different elemental qualities.
And that’s why I don’t necessarily use the same Feng Shui water fountain to support both.

Not every Feng Shui water fountain should be used in the same way
It’s easy to think:
It’s moving water. Surely that’s enough?
But when I’m selecting a water feature, I’m looking beyond whether I simply like the way it looks.
I’m considering:
- the movement of the water
- the amount of water
- how prominent the water sound is
- the size of the fountain
- where it will physically sit
- which Flying Star I’m intending to support
For example, when I’m supporting the current ruling prosperity star, I generally don’t want a fountain producing an excessive amount of water sound.
Instead, I’m looking for gentle moving water combined with light and movement. A well-lit fountain with a bright, colourful or even flashing light can be ideal, and additional movement, such as the rotating ball you’ll see in one of my fountains below, adds another layer of activation to further strengthen the prosperous energy.
Notice the light and movement in this one? That colourful ball is constantly moving as the water flows around it, adding another layer of activation. This is exactly the kind of detail I look for when choosing a fountain to support the current ruling prosperity star. It’s not just about finding a fountain that looks beautiful. Every detail is intentional.
What about the future ruling prosperity star?
This is where things become more nuanced.
Although we’re still working with prosperous Qi, the future ruling prosperity star has different elemental qualities, so I don’t approach the water in exactly the same way.
Here, I actually want to hear the water flowing. I look for a fountain with a stronger, more noticeable running-water sound rather than the gentle trickle I prefer when supporting the current ruling prosperity star.
And this is one of the things I love about advanced Flying Stars.
Once you understand the energetic blueprint of a home, Feng Shui remedies stop being a collection of instructions to memorise. You begin to understand why you’re making each decision.
Two areas may both contain prosperous energy, and both may benefit from a water fountain, yet the type of water activation I choose can be quite different.
Suddenly, choosing a Feng Shui water fountain isn’t just about finding something that looks good.
You know exactly what you’re intending to activate, how you want to support it, and why.
Where should you place a Feng Shui water fountain?
This is where I want you to be careful with generic Feng Shui advice.
You may have come across recommendations telling you to place a water fountain in a particular compass direction because that direction is supposedly the universal “wealth corner”.
Classical Feng Shui analysis goes much deeper than that.
Before I introduce moving water, I want to know:
What energy is actually occupying that location?
Remember, water activates.
If I’m going to strengthen an energy with water, I want to be very intentional about what I’m strengthening.
That’s why the location of your Feng Shui water fountain should come from analysis rather than simply following a generic wealth map.
First we analyse. Then we activate.
See those lines mapped across the floor plan? This is what accurate Flying Stars analysis starts with. You need the correct coordinates to map the energetic fields over the floor plan before determining where each Flying Star actually sits. Without that accuracy, you’re not analysing the home, you’re guessing.
How to choose a Feng Shui water fountain
Once you’ve established that moving water is appropriate for the location, then you can start thinking about the fountain itself.
I look for something that:
- contains real, circulating water
- creates clear water movement
- can be kept clean and functioning properly
- is appropriate for the energy I’m supporting
- works practically within the room
- is something I genuinely like having in the home
And your fountain doesn’t need to look stereotypically Feng Shui.
I would much rather see a beautiful water feature that integrates naturally into someone’s home than something they’ve purchased simply because it was marketed as a Feng Shui water fountain.
The biggest mistake with Feng Shui water fountain placement
One of the biggest mistakes is starting with the remedy instead of the analysis.
Someone learns that water is associated with wealth, buys a fountain and places it in what they’ve been told is their wealth corner.
But there’s a crucial step missing:
What Flying Star are you activating?
This is where learning Flying Stars completely changes the way you look at your home.
Instead of asking:
“Where should I put my water fountain?”
You begin asking:
“What energy occupies this part of my home, and do I actually want to activate it?”
That’s a very different level of Feng Shui analysis.
